Denka Seiken Constructing Influenza Vaccine Manufacturing Facility
Denka Seiken Co. Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan) began construction of a new US $35 million dollar state of the art manufacturing facility for influenza vaccines in its Niigata facilities. Ground was broken in a ceremony on July 7,(B2006 and the facility is expected to be ready April 2007. This new facility will have an annual production capacity of 10 million units and will become operational in 2009. Denka Seiken is also proceeding with its research on the development of tissue culture methods for influenza vaccine production to meet the growing demands of for influenza vaccines both domestically and worldwide. Furthermore its recently developed avian flu vaccine is currently undergoing clinical trials in Japan and Phase I studies have been successfully completed.
